Meatless “Meatballs” in Tomato Sauce

There are few names for this popular dish: chiftele, qofte të fërguara, ćufte, kyufte, polpete, κεφτέδες.

This recipe is my tasty vegan version of “meatballs”.

Meatless “Meatballs” in Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 3 -4 cups mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 4 tbsp. flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • parsley
  • salt and pepper up to taste
  • 1 cup tomato sauce

Instructions
 

  • Clean the mushrooms and chop finely
  • Chop the onion, then sauté in a little oil with the mushrooms
  • When the mushrooms have cooled, add flour, baking powder and season with finely chopped parsley leaves, pepper and salt
  • Mix and well combine, shape the meatballs and fry in well-heated oil
  • Add one caned tomato and cook for a few minutes

Notes

Serve with mushed potato and fresh salads
